Selected for AERA Annual Conference 2023 Paper Presentation
The quantitative, cross-sectional analysis identifies specific characteristics of engagement culture that correlate with academic growth in high poverty schools. It was made possible by assessment and culture data from Dallas ISD’s 2019 Local Accountability System and A-F scores. Findings indicate that a culture of engagement—characterized by systemic intrinsic motivators that increase satisfaction and systemic maintenance factors that minimize dissatisfaction—provides the conditions for student growth. Co-author is Dr. Laura Hyatt of Pepperdine University.
